Updates
Made a lot of updates to the site yesterday, particularly on the Creations and News pages. There are a few more yet to come, but the hardest ones are done, including posting all the black and white ward symbols, a new character avatar, a ton of fan art, and some new covers.
In other news, Pat’s Fantasy Hotlist is hosting a contest to win a free Advance Read Copy of The Great Bazaar, my limited edition collection ofย short stories, set to be published in January 2010 by Subterranean Press. All you have to do is e-mail Pat your address to to be entered to win. Details on his site.
The Great Bazaar is a wonderful introduction to my series for new readers, but also has a lot of new information for people who are already fans. It ties directly into events both in The Painted/Warded Man, as well as The Desert Spear.
If you don’t win, don’t fret. I will he holding a new contest sometime in the next month or so with another ARC as the prize. I just need to think of a cool contest idea.
Suggestions are welcome!
Also, a nice little Warded Man review on the blog Notes from Camp Swampy. (Mild character spoilers in the review, but nothing big.)
I haven’t commented on your blog in a really long time. I blame the Coast Guard.
How about some kind of a fan fic contest?
I’ve got a nerdy one for you. The prize goes to whoever makes all 10 of the first hits on Google for “The Painted Man” be the PVB novel.
Lauren, I’ve long-considered fanfic or fan art contests, but I worry that there won’t be enough interested participants and I’ll end up feeling like someone who threw a big party and no one showed up.
Do any of you lurkers out there think this is a good idea? I’ll totally support it if there’s interest.
Paul, I may be showing a chink in my nerd armor here, but I’m not sure how one would do that, nor how I could verify who was responsible. Can you elaborate on this devious plan of yours? I sure like the sound of prominent google placement. ๐
Myke, the US Coast Guard is a fine institution, and I won’t have you blaming your own failings on them. Man up, sir. You certainly had plenty of time to e-mail me cameraphone pix during your 2 week stint at Club Coast.
A fanfic comp sounds awesome, I would enter for sure Peat.
VERY much looking forward to seeing you @ the Brooklyn Book Festival. Even on her Birthday, my wife is letting me go see you.
P.S. She’s well taken care of present wise so don’t think I’m neglecting her to see you. ๐
Awesome! It’s every author’s nightmare to do a signing where no one shows up. I can sleep easy now. ๐
Thank your wife for me.
Can’t belive it.
A Fan Fiction contest would be great- even though I couldn’t participate.
Well, I could…but you’d have to read a crappy english (just like this) or I’d have to aks my teacher to correct it…but I’m afraid that he isn’t as good as I wish he’d be.
Cost Guard…note sure what it means.
Is it who cheap…well expensive would be more fitting, a book is?
My dictionary doesn’t know either, so I’d be nice if someone could explain…’cause afterall I’m heading to be able to read (and more importantly) and unterstand in english.
Hi Eve! Your English is better than some natives I know. ๐
The COAST Guard (not Cost Guard) is part of the US Military, like the army or navy:

If a few more people chime in, I’ll consider a fanfic contest.
Peat not to be a bother but any updates on the casting Comp?
Been working on it all day. I have the winning cast, but I need to check it against the entries for points, and write the blog entry. I will try to finish tonight, but if I don’t, it will definitely be done by Monday morning.
