Desert Spear Excerpt on Pat’s Fantasy Hotlist

Desert_Spear_US_webThe other day, Patrick from the blog Pat’s Fantasy Hotlist emailed me to ask if he could get an excerpt from The Desert Spear to post on his. I said sure, then spent a couple of days trying to decide what to send. It’s a tough choice; there were good scenes from pretty much all of the 8 character POVs.

But at the end of the day, The Desert Spear is Jardir’s book. He’s on the cover for a reason, and readers will have the chance to get to know him very well.

Starting now.

  1. NOOooOOoo, cruel internet gremlins!

The “Starting Now” link targets an error message: “Not Found.”

  4. That was a great intro chapter, will be interesting to see what happens as we already know the future of both the young boys from the previous book.

Btw 8 POV characters, I thought there would be only 6!!! 2 more reasons to read this book sooner.

  7. Very nice! I’m so excited for this book to come out! It will be neat to get the full story for characters on both sides of a conflict.

If you don’t mind my asking, how much of the book will cover background of Jardir and Renna, and how much will describe events that occur after the first book left off?

  8. Alex, that’s a complicated question to answer, but I will say that out of the 33 chapters in the book, 25 of them occur in 333 AR, the year following the Battle of Cutter’s Hollow.

I don’t really consider any of it background, though. It’s all active, forward-moving story.

  9. Thanks so much for the response, and I think I see what you mean. And I’m glad most of the book will take place in the future; your first book ended on such a cliffhanger that I’m left wanting to know what happens next!
