NYCC Roundup With Video!
Sorry for the lack of posts lately. Busy, busy. I have lots of cool stories from readers, fan art, and pictures to post when I have time, plus the Daylight War update I keep promising, but they will have to wait a bit longer. I did want to throw this up quickly, though.
NY ComicCon went great this year. I did two panels and two signings, got to meet lots of fans, spend time with good friends, gawk at amazing costumes, and generally have a blast:
On Thursday I got to finally meet Jennie from SF blog Fantasy Faction. You can read her own ComicCon report here, complete with tons of pictures, including yours truly. Jennie also recorded and posted my reading of a (very short, as I only had 5 minutes) scene from The Daylight War in the Friday Del Rey/Spectra Panel:
I also did a great panel on Saturday with a lot of great authors. Felicia Day was doing a panel just previous and I tried to go up to her onstage to tell her The Guild is awesome, but she was mobbed:
I would like to note, with no creepy stalkerism, that she is even prettier in person.
Someone recorded and posted part of the panel on Ustream. The angle and sound quality aren’t ideal, but not terrible, either. Please be patient with the short ad you have to watch at first:
Winter Is Here: Epic Fantasy Takes The Throne
Date: Saturday, October 15
6:30 pm – 7:30 pm
Location: 1A15
Speakers: Brandon Sanderson, David Chandler, Nils Johnson-Shelton , Peter Brett , Philippa Ballantine , Rae Carson
Description: Long a staple of the SF/F genre, epic fantasy is poised to take a coup over the bestseller lists, thanks in part to HBO’s fantastically popular series based upon George R.R. Martin’s “Game of Thrones” novel. This summer saw signing lines hundreds of readers deep (luckily none with swords in hand) for #1 New York Times bestselling author Patrick Rothfuss’ American appearance. Now, in a special spotlight session exclusive to New York Comic Con, we pair internationally bestselling author Brandon Sanderson with Peter Brett and epic fantasy debut authors Rae Carson, David Chandler and Nils Johnson-Shelton talk about why swords and sorcerers, king-makers and kingslayers; dragons and high drama have renewed resonance in fiction.
Track: Sci-Fi / Fantasy
Hell, yeah! A preview to “The Daylight War” (even for us people not living in the New World)! Thanks a lot for posting the YT video.
Any word when the UK reprint of “The Great Bazaar and other Stories” will happen? 😉
Cheers,
Drizzt
The chapter hooks you in and then you realize you don’t get the rest of the book until next year. Mr. Brett: you are a book tease! And I’m apparently a masochist because I want to listen to it again!
Thanks for the preview of Daylight War – it sounds brilliant 🙂 Really can’t wait to read it.
You big tease, you.
I’m in the middle of making a thank you card for the Dice – they’re so cool. Been showing them off to everyone – thank you so much 🙂

Thanks for that, sir! Enough Wards to quell my junkie’s twitch, for a while at least. Such a small view into the book, but I can already see it’s going to rock!
Glad you had a great Con!
Oh man, I wished I could have been there! This looks so great! The panel in France was great already, even though I understood less then half of the French. I wished I had time and money enough to go to cons more often…
