Audiobook Release of The Great Bazaar

I am TOTALLY PSYCHED to announce that The Great Bazaar is currently available as an audiobook by Recored Books!

The Great Bazaar, as you all probably know, is my first Demon Cycle novella, published in hardcover by Subterranean Press in January of 2010 between the release of The Warded Man and The Desert Spear. It is the first in a series of shorts chronicling Arlen’s adventures during his Messenger days. TGB tells of the exciting tale of how Arlen acquired his map to the lost city of Anoch Sun, and features one of my favorite characters, Abban, with his own POV sections. If you’re interested in how the project evolved, you can read my detailed post about its creation and publication here.

Sadly, this book was published very early in my career, and, not expecting high demand, only 1300 or so copies were printed (200 of which were the leather bound limited editions). The book has become something of a collector’s item as a result. The original hardcovers run for about $300 on Amazon and even more for the limited edition copies.

A UK print version of The Great Bazaar (which will include my second Demon Cycle Novella, Brayan’s Gold) will be is scheduled for January 2013, just prior to the release of The Daylight War, but there is still no US reprint scheduled (I’m working on it, I promise!).

If you own an eReader, you can buy the e-book version of The Great Bazaar for $4.99. This is great, and means a lot more people can read it, but not everyone has an eReader or wants one. But now, with the release of the audiobook, The Great Bazaar has taken one more step to being totally accesible.

As with all my US audiobooks, The Great Bazaar is narrated by the amazing Pete Bradbury. Pete did fantastic work on the audiobooks for The Warded Man and The Desert Spear, and has done a number of other impressive titles. I am quoted (on this very blog) saying that Pete Bradbury’s ” …  silken rumble of a voice could charm the panties off a marble statue of Athena.”

I stand by that. Pete is currently recording Brayan’s Gold, which should be on sale soon!

You can buy the complete audiobook of The Great Bazaar here. Let us know what you think!

P.S. Please join me THIS WEDNESDAY, March 14, from 8-10pm EST, on Reddit Fantasy as I do an author Ask Me Anything session. I will be live, answering questions about my books, publishing in general, or anything else you care to ask.

  1. General Comment *Salutes*
This is great news! That the UK gets to see your novellas in all their glory [is the new cover going to be by the fabulous Ms Cannon?] is really exciting! And that your novella’s are reaching out in all the formats; pretty freakin’ great. Congratulations sir!

    Egotistical Comment *Doesn’t Salute, obviously*
It’s even better news for me as I have been building up a second collection of the Demon Cycle books – one to read ’till it falls apart and one to sit there and look pretty, heh. I was lucky enough to get Voyager First Editions of the main books when they came out and got my hands on the novellas was good too. With my prize US-version of The Desert Spear and my gifted paperback of The Painted Man come January my collection shall be complete in time for my re-read to welcome The Daylight War later in the year – excitement!

I imagine a lot of effort goes into projects like this from you and from your team, so I would like to say thank you to you all!

  2. The UK version will have an all-new cover, NOT by Lauren Cannon. I am hoping it will be Larry Rostant, who does my other UK covers.
