Reddit Ask Me Anything (AMA)
Posted by Meg
A few weeks ago, Peat did an Ask Me Anything (AMA) on the Fantasy section of Reddit. This was a really unique way for fans and folks in the Reddit fantasy community to ask Peat pretty much anything. The way the AMA worked: users could ask Peat questions throughout the day, and then Peat came on from 8-10pm that night and answered questions live. Users asked questions from craft to plot to book recommendations. There were even some author appearances from Myke Cole and Brent Weeks.
One of the fun aspects of the AMA is that Peat answers a lot of questions, like a normal interview, but the users, instead of one interviewer, got to steer the conversation any which way they liked. Other users could use an ‘upvote’ function to highlight questions and comments they liked. In my experience, this can lead to a lot of fun, and hilarious tangents covering all sorts of geeky topics.
Sad you missed such a fun online event? Don’t fret! You can look at ALL of the questions and Peat’s answers here. You can also check out all the other excellent Fantasy Author AMAs on the sidebar. Some past authors include: Myke Cole, Brent Weeks, Robin Hobb, Patrick Rothfuss, Brandon Sanderson, Joe Abercrombie and more. Upcoming authors include Jim C. Hines, Michael Sullivan and other surprise guests! The Reddit Fantasy group is a fantastic community to be part of, and it takes about thirty seconds to sign up. If you don’t feel like signing up, or just want to check it out first, you can still view all the questions and answers without making an account.
