Summer Reads
Posted by Meg
Whether you are sprinting off to the beach to cool off or just sitting back in your air conditionned room, summer is a great time to get started on a new series … or get wrapped up in an old one.
The Warded Man was named one of the top 5 summer reads in a post by Bryan Thomas Schmidt, the host of sffwrtcht (Science Fiction and Fantasy Writer’s Chat). You can check out the transcript of Peat’s Twitter interview with Bryan here.
Peat was also on the Up and Coming Top Fantasy Shelf on 20SomethingReads.com and was picked by Charlaine Harris (author of the Sookie Stackhouse novels) a “under the covers” sizzling summer read! Check out what she has to say about The Warded Man and her full list of summer picks here.
This got me wondering what Peat’s favorite summer reads were. Maybe if we find some truly thrilling new books, winter will get here sooner (and with it, The Daylight War!)
So here is what Peat is reading this summer:
- The Cold Commands by Richard K. Morgan
- The Heroes by Joe Abercrombie
- King of Thorns by Mark Lawrence
- Warriors Edited by George R.R. Martin
- The City and the City by China Mieville
So what are you waiting for? Let’s get reading!
Number One on my list for the summer break: Finish what G.R.R.M. wrote so far… that makes half a year spending it on reading one series.
I just finished reading the Hugo award nominees for Best Novella, and currently reading a collection of short stories about archaeology.
After that…not yet sure. I’ve no lack of choices…
well, as I’m about to move country, my reading list in real live book form will be limited but my thoughts are here: http://findingthereal.wordpress.com/2012/07/09/8-book-limit/
Just finished reading the Hyperion Cantos series…..Im just EXTREMELY jelly that peter already gets to read “king of thorns”
Looking forward to getting a hold of a copy of king of thorns.
