Fan Art: Warded Clocks, Bracelets and Cat Collars

Super fan Kym has done some pretty incredible contest-winning art and cosplays in the past. Now, she’s at it again, posting pictures of crafts engraved with wards.
Warded time! Such a beautiful piece. And the carved hands look so delicate and intricate.
How she made it:
This clock is made from a thin, round, wooden placemat that I burned wards into. It has fire, water, wood and wind as the main, larger wards. The warded clock has a worn look to it, to suggest it was used by a messenger during his travels. Who knows how well he would of faired if he was missing part of his ward circle …
Next we have this incredible warded bracelet.
How she made it:
I finished reading The Daylight War by Peter V. Brett and decided I wanted a warded bracelet to remind me of my favourite books.
A 25cm diameter, wooden bracelet. I measured the bracelet so I could fit all 18 wards from the ward circle onto it. Then I drew the wards in with grey lead pencil, the pencil burns away as I wood burn the wards in, if any is left over I just erase it. I burned around the edges to give the bracelelt more colour. I used wood stain to colour the bracelet and applied a coat of gloss varnish.

Warded cat collar!
About the collar:
I burned 22 wards in to this cat collar. My cat was still more excited about his food bowl than his new collar, but at least he has some defence from corelings now.

A small wooden ball that I wood burned wards on. There are 21 wards covering it.

I made these to create a game inspired by the amazing Demon cycle, Painted Man, books by Peter V. Brett.
The balls are about 2cm around and have seven wards on each of them, two large and five small. There are nine balls in a game set.Warded balls for a simple game used by warders to practice their ward recognition skills, by sense of touch.
In a game for two players each player selects one ball from the leather pouch and they check to see if it beats their opponents ball. The mind ward beats any other ward so a winning ward will eventually be selected by one player.In a variation of the same game, three warded balls are selected by each player and whoever has the stronger wards wins, the mind ward is a wild and beats any other ward.
And she made a trusty little warded pouch to store them in!

Leather pouch is about 15cm tall.
The pouch is made from an old leather bag.
It has wards burned into it, a flame ward on this side and a wood ward on the other side. It was inspired from the pouch Renna Tanner has in the amazing Demon cycle, Painted Man, books by Peter V. Brett.
