Haiku Review Contest
Posted by Meg
We’ve done it before, and we are doing it again! Time to sharpen up your concise poetic skills and get cracking on a haiku poem review of The Daylight War.
Peat ran a Haiku Review Contest for The Warded Man back in 2009, and there were some pretty incredible entries.
Need reminding of what a haiku is? It’s pretty simple. The poem must be three lines. The first and last line must have five syllables and the middle line must consist of seven.
Here are some rules:
1) Haikus only. No free form, rhyming couplets, limericks or iambic pentameter
2) Your entry must be a review of The Daylight War
3) Post your poems in the comments below!
4) Please have your poem in before April 22, 2013, the day we will pick the winners!
Prizes include signed copies of The Daylight War and these awesome Daylight War pins initialled by Peat!
The Daylight War is now out in multiple countries! U.S., U.K. (Waterstones or Amazon), German and Poland editions are now available for purchase.
Want yours signed? Peat signed a stockpile of his books at each bookstore he visited. Even if you are not local, most of these will deliver. In the U.K.? Peat did the same for all the bookstores he visited as well.
I posted this on facebook as well
I picked up the book
And I could not stop reading
The book was brilliant.

My eyes would not stop
For the words continued on
To my great delight.
Ho can you think this
Your mind is very creative
You are fantastic!
Brothers Spiralling
Wake swept demons and lovers
Cataclysmic fall
Daylight cultures clash
Revenge versus destiny
Falling, who will rise
I know it’s late. Couldn’t resist writing haikus so I just wanted to share…
the ebbs and flows of
romance, battles, loyalties–
all is inev’ra

One spear, two heroes–
a duel to end all doubt.
Beware: cliff…crunch…poof!

*New powers all ’round…
in love, friendship, kin and war
it is all but fair.
*A war, a union,
a homecoming, a deceit
a faceoff, a fall.
*Everything’s bigger–
powers, conflicts, surprises.
Size: it does matter.

Protected by wards,
People learn to fight demons.
Demons can ward too…
A gift from Arlen;
Great Wards protect the people,
Glowing in the night.
