Great Bazaar Punch Contest Winners

Sorry for taking an extra couple of days getting this together. This is what happens when I randomly run a contest myself instead of asking Meg to handle it.

The other day I mentioned on twitter that I had gotten a box of the gorgeous UK Great Bazaar/Brayan’s Gold combo books (ON SALE TOMORROW, APRIL 25!) and asked if I should give some away. A reader in Seattle told me she would be willing to punch a kitten for one, and thus, a contest was born. I tweeted, “What would you punch for a copy of The Great Bazaar?”

The response was instant and kind of awesome. People were punching everything from Hitler to time itself. Even a few authors got in the mix for the fun of it:

Marika Gallman offered to punch an uncreative interviewer with a toilet seat and tell them that’s where I get my ideas from.

Mark Lawrence was willing to punch out Jorg Ancrath, which, let’s face it, is a gutsy move. That guy is not known for his ability to forgive and/or forget:

Joe Abercrombie punched San Dan Glokta, the crippled torturer from his First Law series. Also unwise, but at least Joe could probably outrun him:

Myke Cole punched out Oscar Britton, the main character in his first novel, Control Point. I know a couple of readers that wanted to do that after Oscar did that thing that made sense at the time but then turned out to be a bad idea…

Sam Sykes tried to get in on the action by taking a swing at my girlfriend, but Lauren’s kickboxing training took over and she cold-cocked him:

Originally, I offered free signed copies to the best three pictures, but I am a bit of a soft touch with things like this, and there were so many awesome entries to choose from. Rather than just give prizes to the usual suspects who go above and beyond, I’ve brought the number up to five books. A few lucky runners up will get signed Daylight War buttons, as well.

Signed book winners:

Arthur wins all the prizes, but this time it cost him. After offering to punch his love for a book, he got it in return from his fitness instructor girlfriend Lauren. He should have learned the lesson from Sam Sykes. Never try to punch a Lauren.

Birte is another frequent winner, but she deserves it after she invented a whole new sharukin to attempt the most dangerous punch of them all, Inevera herself.

Mike’s baby was dreaming of winning a book, and punched daddy in the jaw FTW.

@sjacob09 dressed her dog up as Inevera and then punched it. Not sure which was the greater act of animal cruelty.

Nadine had an interesting strategy, punching out all her contest competitors.

Button Winners:

Anthony might have won for this pic, but I have a feeling his cat knocked him out before he landed that blow. That kitty is not messing around.

Katarzyna attempted to punch out Yoda, but he Jedi mind-tricked her into punching herself.

While we’re on a Star Wars kick, force-choke and punch has gotta win something…

Thanks to everyone who entered! More giveaways to come!

Remember to pick up a copy of The Great Bazaar tomorrow!
