NYCC 2014 Recap: Friday
Posted by Meg
Day 2 at NYCC this year meant starting the day with a whirlwind Warded Man signing at the Random House booth.
Check out this line …
The Warded Man came to Comic Con this year … he needed his life story signed, of course.
Random House provided fans and new readers with complimentary Warded Mans!
There were some extremely nifty costumes and gifts this year:
Fan Mia brought delicious googly-eyed treats to keep Peat from starving during the con!
But Daniel is the one who came the most prepared
Theresa, on the left, designed and created the costume!
Author and hero fight!
After the Random House booth signing, Peat had to test his geek knowledge in this year’s Geek Geek Revolution Panel with Amber Benson, Maureen Johnson, M.D. Payne, Lou Anders, John Scalzi and moderated by Pat Rothfuss. We were all sure he had won, but then Scalzi took the win. Did somebody say recount?
You can check out a video of the whole panel here.
Gearing up for some geeky trivia! The audience tried to stump the authors … and succeeded!
Crowds can be scary … especially when you are trying to prove your nerd cred
Scalzi trying the Jar Jar Binks mask of shame on for size
The authors of the Geek Geek Revolution Panel
At the signing, following the panel with @PatrickRothfuss and @amber_benson photobomb. Pat brought a copy of The Slow Regard of Silent Things to the con especially for Peat and surprised him with it at the signing. They are making faces to keep from losing their dignity in an unmanly show of affection.
Peat’s agent Joshua was celebrating both his 50th birthday and the 20th anniversary of his JABberwocky Literary Agency
More trivia at Barnes & Noble!
The SF vs Fantasy Family Feud was a bit tight around the table. Peat may have almost fallen off the stage a couple times.
The Skull Throne will be released in March in the U.S./U.K. with translations to follow. Pre-order the U.S. edition from Random House today.
