Character Recreation: RPG Style (Part 2)!
Posted by Karen
In last Monday’s post, we featured OldNile’s amazing character redesigns for The Demon Cycle. There was some awesome content and we really enjoyed showing it off!
Since then, OldNile has gotten in touch with us with some new material, this time with his own commentary. We’re so excited to be able to share a second part of OldNile’s recreations. Check it out!
Here we see Gared charging out of a fort with his signature axe and blade combo. Why is he charging like this in broad daylight? I dunno, rogue Krasians. Moving on.
Somewhat small ward circle – perhaps made out of childhood reminiscence?
Exploring long-abandoned ruins and shooting thunderbolt-like arrows into demons like no one else
Tinder and firewood, coming right up!
If we assume this Spriggan is a wood demon (I mean, it’s pretty close to one), this is your average nighttime scene around Deliverer’s Hollow.
I’d imagine Gared would easily go up against a pair of Nightwolves by himself like this.
Wonda facing off with a wolf. Maybe a smaller Nightwolf, that works.
A neat shot of Wonda, showcasing her signature bow and facial scarring.
Gared finally found his plate gauntlets. Let’s just assume they are warded.
Also, a fun little bonus:
After seeing this, I immediately went: “Yup, Gared would totally do this to someone who tried to rob him.”
These are so cool! I can definitely see similarities between a Spriggan and a wood demon. Of course, neither is a match for Gared! You can see the original screencaps on OldNile’s gallery here.
Reminder: We’re accepting comments for this week’s Warded Wednesday Giveaway until tonight! If you haven’t submitted a reply, feel free. Or you can always respond to someone else’s comment. The winner will be announced tomorrow.
The Warded Man hardcover is now available online only! Check it out on Amazon or Books-A-Million.
I always felt like the demon Princes were he most frightening. Their ability to invade the mind, and root around in someone’s head in the most penetrating, and violating way possible is just something that triggers goosebumps the more you think about it. There primary threat to humans in a one on one encounter is an ability that is such a deep and personal violation that it borders on rape. Tack on their ability to make a thrall of a man, after plundering his thoughts and everything that makes him what he is, and it’s literally a threat of living through an unending hell. Even IF the victim was teleased, they culd never be the person they were before. They’d be tormented with whatever actions they committed while under control of the prince, and a paranoia or fear of being mentally invaded again. Defending against them is difficult, you need to either know the proper wards, or have a warded item from someone else who knows.
