  1. Lava demons! They could be a bit like small rock demons that set on fire everything they touch.

  2. I’d add a bunny-like demon which looks like a cute innocent rabbit until it catches sight of its prey, at which point it transforms into a massive bunny killing machine.

  3. Thunder demon, which could knock you/buildings flat with the sound and vibrations that it produces.

  4. As a fan of seismology, I’d add earthquake demons. They would make the ground shake, split it etc. Even villages protected by a Great Ward might be endangered by them because they influence the Earth from far underneath.

How to fight them? No idea! That’s Arlen’s job to find out!

  5. I’m thinking bone demons. Every time someone dies from a demon, their flesh now broils away and the bones are left. This would make it more scary, and more emotional for the characters who watch their loved ones die in front of them. I’m thinking because it’s so late to the game that they appear, I would say they are finding new ways to get to the people and make it more terrifying. Maybe the bone demons can morph into bigger, more creepy looking shapes and sizes too. I thought I would just put this comment here because that would be so intriguing!

  6. I’ve always had a fascination with ghosts and the supernatural so some kind of specter demon could be terrifying. These demons exist between the material world and The Core in the mist state. They can possess physical creatures, alive or dead, and use their bodies to cross over wards. One can find them most commonly in or near catacombs, graveyards, and abandoned ruins.

  7. Fog Demons are found in river valleys, swamps and around the edges of lakes, they like it damp and cold.

The fog demon is hard to spot at first. Its skin seems to exude a sort of mist that helps to camouflage it but is also highly toxic. They mostly move quite slowly, keeping close to the ground and relying on the element of surprise but they can put on short bursts of speed. Their general shape is long and sinewy, having a narrow body and seemingly disproportionate limbs. They have a strong grip with small needle-like teeth and claws. Not particularly strong or large they tend to hunt in packs, using stealth to surround their prey before suffocating it and ripping it apart.

Fog demons are armoured with dull, grey-ish scales that lie smoothly and are marked with patterns of light and dark that add to their camouflage. People have been known to wander into the mists enticed by the patterning of the fog demon’s scales, mistaking it for a distant light source.

  8. Knowing how irritating a musquito can be when you have one in your room and want to sleep, imagine a mosquito demon that you can’t even kill with one clap of your hands. They could wipe out humanity because they are small enough to pass through most ward nets, you can’t kill them easy enough, they are tiny so you can only hear them at night (especially with no electricity at hand), their bites are poisonous and a bunch of them could probably suck you dry in a matter of hours. I’d be more afraid of these than any rock demon.

  9. I would add a demon which could mimic the worst traits of the person he touches and seeing the heinousness of the demon kind, that demon would defect to the human side and aid them in their war.

  10. I like the thought of a necromancy demon. One that can bring both dead corelings and humans back to fight for it. Not only is it just plain awesome, imagine what the characters would feel, their friends killed only to come at them, and corelings that rise again and again no matter how many times you put a spear through them

  11. Venom Demon. Its snake like form causes anything it slithers over or pass to decompose/wither away. It slithers around causing entire fields to rot in one night. If it gets past your wards it’s intoxicating poison seep from its skin killing all who inhale or get close enough to touch it

  12. Deep in the core you may find a demon abecedary. This creature is a teacher of other demons, passing on knowledge of human’s weaknesses to the denizens of the core so that they might emerge victorious.

  13. Knowing that they too must do something unexpected to negate the power the human minds have rediscovered, the demon court send forth from the core the “alagai sun” who is warded against the power of the sun to strike at will in daylight hours.

  14. Living where I do, these demons appear most often in the turbulent spring storms to destroy both property and lives. TORNADO demons.

  15. Blood Demons,

    Blood is the strongest bound.
Humans, animals and corelings have blood.
Blood demons can take any form what they want.
They can possess bodies of living beings of any type through just a simple scratch. A drop of blood is more than enough to possess people. Their true form resembles to a bloodfilled balloon.
Blood and guts can terrify people with strongest will. They can form their bodies like heroes who fallen in the wars against demons. Only their bloodfilled eyes can be seen as difference in human form. They are horrifying creatures of nie.
Protection against them? Maybe it exist but i think long forgotten.

  16. rot demons symbolizing decay, deterioration and the finality of it all

strong among the demon hierarchy their presence is a blight upon the earth and their presence even affects other demons

having a wraith-like physical presence they can pass unnoticed by even the shrewdest scout until they decide to exert their influence unraveling the threads of matter and most forms of magic around them (which is one of the reasons other demons prefer their distance)

it is rumoured that they long ago made their hunting grounds on wastelands beyond the krasian desert, which is one of the reasons demons plague the desert – to escape their brutal brethren

  17. Mecha demons–biomechanical demons with super-speed and super-strength.

Why? I just think they would be *cooool*.

Wraith demons–ghostly or ghoul-like, with a power akin to invisibility. Because…creepy.

  18. How about a lightning demon,! I have also thought an ice demon that could manipulate between solid and liquid may be interesting. Last but not least a quicksand demon.

Posted by Beth, on March 10th, 2016 at 6:15 pm
  19. How about a metal demon? One that is made from the metal ore in the ground. Very tough to kill, especially if it’s iron ore. Not too smart though.
They may also be made from found metal parts made by humans. So an old village might produce a bronze demon from old door knobs and handles.
Maybe even a combination of metals.

  20. Can I suggest a second one?
The only other plant demon you have is a wood demon. How about a vine demon? Easy to cut but oh so many vines reaching for you. Maybe make the vines able to travel under the dirt for stealth.

  21. If I could add a demon into the Demon Cycle series, it would have to be a Shadow Demon. The only demon that could come out during the day, you’re only safe in the dark.

  22. I offer up the concept of a Cache Demon for your consideration.

Slow, plodding, and a vegetarian (stay with me), the Cache Demon would not have any known wards against it. Rarely seen by people, this massive creature is only found in the most remote of places, far from human habitation, feasting on underbrush and roots, turning it into nie’s unholy energy. If one were to see it, they would most likely assume it a great boulder.

A two-fold creature, the Cache Demon’s main purpose is to grow massive and fat so it may be sacrificed to its stronger brethren in times of fast or, if the demon species should see mankind into extinction, to serve as a primary food source as wildlife would soon be thinned to unmanageable populations.

It’s secondary purpose, when acted upon by a Mind Demon, would be catastrophic in warfare. When set loose against mankind’s armies, it’s great rolling skin would glow as a beacon, drawing demons from the night from one side of the continent to the other, bringing them to battle. Seeing a cash cow would whip the rest of the demons into a blood frnzy

  23. *continued from above, my apologies. My phone messed up and I can’t edit my post.

As the Cache Demon takes the lead, trailing thousands, it would crash into mankind’s ward nets. Flailing and gouging, the Cache Demon would discharge the energy it had been holding, overwhelming the ward nets and causing them to fail even as it’s brethren try to gain a grip on it’s undulating, leathery hide.

As ward nets drop and Cache Demons lose their shining allure of an easy meal, the rest of thr demons could strike into encampments and fortresses alike to feast and dance until the sun could rise.

The unlucky few Cache Demons brought down by its brothers would be sacrificed for the cause. The rest would quickly dissipate, turn to mist, and follow the underground trails back to the Core to wait until the next night to go out and replenish their energy.
