Warded Wednesday: Demon Cycle Haiku!
Posted by Karen
Hey everyone! A few years ago, Peat held a Daylight War Haiku Contest. The contest turned out some really awesome responses and I’m bummed to have missed it. I figure it’s about time to give it another shot, don’t you?
This week, there’s no question. Instead, we’re asking you to create a Haiku (three lines, 5, 7, and 5 syllables respectively) based on the Demon Cycle.
These Haiku can be serious, funny, whimsical, scary, whatever. You can submit more than one. This is a pretty low bar of entry, so have fun with it!
The prize for this giveaway is a UK-edition Skull Throne paperback!
The Skull Throne is the latest book in the Demon Cycle series. If you’d like a copy signed by Peat himself, go ahead and enter.
Remember, we can only pick your comment if you respond to our post on the blog. We’re looking forward to your answers.
Giveaway answers will be accepted until Monday. The winner will be announced Tuesday.
You can get your copy of The Desert Spear here!
Had to google Haiku. lol. I’m not much for any kind of art, but here goes 😀

Calculus needed.
Rojer is in the bath tub
He plugged the bath cork
*************************
Demon in the sack
She lays him down on his back
Soon a heart attack
*************************
Darkness upon him
Light ahead, there is hope.
Only twin embers

Warded Man haiku:
Once knew a girl from Cutter’s…
Wait, that’s a limerick.
Swooping, deadly, low
The Wind Demon circles
Diving, shrieking, kills.
I’ve never been good at writing Haiku, as is evident above ?
“are the demons there?”
asks my girlfriend next to me
“always” i reply
****************************
ward circle at night
make a haven of safe light
still, you hear the screams
Living in the daylight
Surviving in the darkness
Who will deliver us
I’d give my right arm
to be able to draw wards
as well as THAT guy.
